Would You Know What To Do If You Put The Wrong Fuel In Your Vehicle?

Copyright (c) 2014 Stratique Marketing, Design and PR

Putting the wrong fuel in your car is known as misfuelling. It happens every day in petrol
forecourts all over the UK. However, do you know what to do if a momentary lapse of concentration
means that you misfuel?

It is important that you do. According to recent article published in the Daily Mail Putting the
wrong fuel in your car is a notoriously expensive mistake, with some garages charging as much as
£5,000 to sort out the problem.

But the researchers from the newspaper believed that most of the work they are billing for is
unnecessary and many cases of misfueling can be simply rectified.

The AA estimates that over 150,000 drivers put the wrong fuel in their car every year - about 13
an hour - and end up paying out a total of £50million in repair bills.

The Daily Mail reported that researchers from the magazine Auto Express posed as owners who had
put unleaded petrol into their diesel vehicles and then asked dealers to quote for repairs.
Topping the list was Chrysler, with a £5,000 quote to fix a Grand Voyager. The repair bills
varied dramatically. The owner of a Skoda Octavia would be charged £110 for the tank to be
emptied, the system flushed and a new filter installed. However, a BMW 320d driver could be
expected to pay for new fuel lines and pump too, costing more than £1,000.

So if the article is to be believed, knowing what you need to do should this happen to you could
end up saving you up to £5,000.

So What Should You Do?

Firstly, don't start your engine. This will start the wrong fuel being moved from the tank and
circulating around the entire engine. This can cause unnecessary damage, which can start to rack
up those repair bills.

If you can, stop filling your tank immediately. With the cost of fuel on the rise, the less fuel
you put in, the less of your money you are wasting. Call a dedicated fuel rescue service. A
professional company can be with you normally within an hour and can perform a fuel tank drain
down and flush out the wrong fuel that has been put in. This can prevent any damage to your engine
and once you've refilled your tank with the correct fuel, you can be back on your way quickly and
without facing a hefty bill for a simple mistake.

The New Ford Ranger

Driving Skills for Life

In Australia, where it was designed, they call it a ute. Other parts of the world may call it a
pick-up. But here in South Africa the new Ford Ranger is definitely a bakkie, and a pretty good
one at that.

Can a vehicle designed in Australia by Aussies really be that good? Consider the fact that Aussies
love their 4x4s and overland driving and that some of the conditions Down Under are so bad that
NASA tests their Mars space suits there. If a bakkie can survive in Kalgoorlie, it can surely cope
with Kaokoland.

So let's put those rugby and cricket prejudices aside and look more closely at the Ford Ranger.

Basically the Ranger comes in a wide range of alternatives, from the four-cylinder, 2.5-litre 2.5i
Base LR 5MT single cab with a five-speed manual transmission, up to the five-cylinder, 3.2-litre
3.2 TDCi XLT 4x4 6AT double cab with a six-speed automatic gearbox.

The new Ford Ranger is big, make no mistake about it. All models are over 5 metres long, 5.274
metres to be exact, and 2.163 metres wide.

The base model comes with 16-inch steel wheels as standard, giving it a height of 1.7 metres,
while the larger capacity models have either 17-inch or 18-inch alloy wheels, giving an overall
height of 1.82 metres. So you'd better be tall to wash the roof.

The overall size of the Ranger enables it to have a spacious passenger compartment. It not only
looks roomy, but feels enormous. There is ample room in the rear for three passengers; up front,
the driver and front passenger can enjoy good head room, leg room and shoulder room. The interior
is quite modern in appearance but gives a workmanlike impression. This is a vehicle designed to
look tough and perform tough.

The exterior appearance carries on this style, curved and rather chunky, but definitely not soft.
Three large slots in the grille give it a distinctive look that tells you it means business.

While the size of the Ford Ranger can make it a challenge to drive in traffic or the city, that's
not what it was designed for, this is a bakkie for overland conditions and this is where it
excels. It is not the ultimate off-roader, but for long overland trips with some rough conditions
it's hard to beat. The 800 mm wading depth is the best in its class and the ground clearance is a
massive 237 mm. Couple the huge interior with an overall carrying capacity of 1049 kg and the
Ranger makes a long overland trip seem effortless.

The conclusion? The new Ford Ranger is a powerful, spacious bakkie that's hard to beat!

Get A Good Deal With These Car Buying Tips

Car shopping can bring dread to your heart. It could remind you of times past where the salesman
took advantage of you. Stop the insanity and read this article as the advice here will keep you
safe from the sales pitch of even the most advanced car jockey on the lot.

Have a clear understanding of what those upgrades will cost you. Purchasing the fancy stereo,
leather seats and DVD player might be appealing, but those options can add a significant amount to
the price of your car. Take some time to think about how much you really need the upgrades, and
only purchase the ones you will use the most.

If you are in the market for a used car, a great way to tell if the speedometer is correct is to
look at the gas and brake pedals. If someone says the car has 30,000 miles on it, and the brake
and gas pedals are worn, it is a good indication the odometer was turned back.

Have a friend or family member that sells cars come along with you as you search for a new car.
Car salesmen can be very aggressive, but if they know that you are with a fellow salesman you will
have an easier time getting the deal that you want and deserve.

A great tip for those looking to buy a used car would be to research what the resale value of the
car is. Look at the Kelly Blue Book value and compare it to the condition that the vehicle is
currently in to see whether or not the price is fair.

You should only provide a social security number if you are seriously considering making a
purchase from that dealership. Dealers run your credit as soon as they are able to. If you do not
purchase a vehicle at this dealership, then your chances of obtaining the best deal at another
dealership can be damaged because the credit run will be shown. Wait until you have a sure deal
before you fill out the part of the application that requires the Social Security number.

If you plan to trade in your old car, find out how much it's worth and factor that into your
budget. If you think, your car is worth a lot, and it's not, you may be in for a shock when you
reach the lot. Knowing as much as possible before you leave your house is the key.

Understand the financing office. Most dealerships make the bulk of their money in the financing
office. Your interest rate, extended warranties and other add ons are all sold at a premium once
you are in there. Understand this, and select any of those options carefully. Most are not
necessary for the average car owner.

Check out multiple dealerships for the car you desire. Once you select which make and model you
want, don't just stick to the closest lot. If there are multiple dealers of that brand, check them
all out. Don't forget to check out used lots as well, they often offer great bargains on cars
which will drive for a long time to come.

Talk to your friends and neighbors before buying your car. Ask what their experience was like with
various dealerships, and visit only the dealerships that you are hearing positive things about.
This can save you a lot of hassle while you are shopping and make your car buying experience that
much more pleasant.

Be on the lookout for year end specials. These specials generally start in the fourth quarter of
each year and feature manufacturer set deals that remain unrivaled when compared to other deals in
the year. These deals exist due to the new year and new model year, which means newer cars taking
the place of older ones.

To make your negotiations go smoothly when purchasing a new car have a minimum of a twenty percent
down payment saved. By having a down payment, you will be able to lower your interest rate and
payments and have leverage when discussing your trade in options. You may find that you will net
more savings by not trading a car in and selling it on your own.

See? This simple, easy to follow guide of advice will give you the power next time you're the one
negotiating for a car. Print it off and study it as you prepare for the big day and I'm sure once
you own your new car you'll be bragging to your friends about what a great deal you got.
