Why Car Maintenance is Important

Fixing your car all the time can be a challenge. However, you need to realize when you are not
carrying out some of the standard car maintenance on your vehicle it can lead to the car breaking
down quite a bit. The problem you may start to encounter is trying to figure out what actually
constitutes the routine or standard maintenance that should be performed on your vehicle. By
knowing this information, it is easy for you to get the proper maintenance done on your vehicle
and not be as worried about the vehicle breaking down.

Oil changes is the first of the typical maintenance you will have to deal with. This is also one
of the most important aspects for keeping your vehicle in good working condition. Normally you
would not think about this, but you need to realize when you are driving your vehicle the oil is
what keeps the metal from grinding on each other. As you drive the vehicle longer on the same oil,
it starts to get thin and worn out. This can lead to less protection, but also little bits of
metal getting in the oil. With an oil and oil filter change, it will remove the metal shavings and
give you back the thick oil your vehicle needs.

Radiator fluid is another important maintenance issue for most vehicles. You may have never
thought about this before, but with the weather the world has been experiencing it is important to
get this checked at least once a year. By getting this checked, you will know your vehicle will be
protected from overheating, but also not have to be concerned about the radiator freezing in the
middle of winter when you are trying to drive your vehicle.

Tires are important for your vehicle and are something you should have rotated and balanced at
least once a year, if not more often. When you get the tired rotated and balanced, you do not have
to be concerned about the tires giving you problems or having an off balance tire which can affect
the performance of your vehicle. You also will find the off balance tires can cause a bad
vibration in your vehicle at certain speeds and this can lead to the suspension system of your
vehicle taking a beating and tiers going bald  prematurely.

Taking care of a vehicle and making sure it is drivable all the time is important. However, if
you are not properly performing the routine car maintenance on your vehicle you will quickly find
your vehicle is spending more time at the repair shop than your driveway. By knowing about three
of the most common car maintenance issues, you will be able to avoid having your vehicle in the
shop as often. However, the only way you can do this is if you have the routine maintenance
performed on a regular basis and keep up with the maintenance, instead of just acknowledging the
fact that it needs to be done.

Follow This Simple Article To Learn More About Auto Repair

Have you ever wondered whether you could save some money doing the car repairs yourself? Have you
wished you could select a better auto repair shop or be able to better diagnose the problem with
your vehicle? Take the time now to keep reading about some great tips for making the right
decisions when it comes to your auto repairs.

When taking your car to a repair service, make sure that you have all documentation handy. This is
important as you do not want the mechanic to do tasks that have already been performed on your
car. This can help you save a lot of time and money with your repair.

Do not be afraid to ask lots of questions whenever you take your vehicle to the auto shop. Your
questions should focus on the problems your car has and also what steps you can take to prevent
this problem from occurring in the future. Engaging in preventative measures will likely save you
money down the line.

Check the transmission fluid every two to three months. Let your engine run and open the hood of
your car. Use the transmission dipstick to check the fluid levels. If there is not enough fluid in
your transmission you probably have a leak somewhere in your system. It is best to take the car to
a mechanic so he can locate the leak.

Pay attention to the gauges and trouble lights on your cars dash. Learn to recognize the warning
signs of a car that is overheating, low on oil or not charging the battery. Knowing which of these
indicators need immediate attention can prevent damage to your car and save you cash in the long
run.

Be sure to read your owner's manual to find out what kinds of fluids (oil, brake fluid,
transmission fluid, steering fluid) your car needs and to learn how to check and top these off
yourself. Keep a few bottles of each fluid in the trunk of your car in case of emergencies.

Protect your car from water damage. Take the time to make sure all windows and doors are properly
closed. Keep your car on higher ground if you live in an area that's easily flooded. If you have
sandbags, build a wall around your car. Don't drive in areas with high water levels. Don't start
your car if it's been exposed to flood waters.

If your vehicle seems to be leaking fluids, start by replacing the gaskets and seals. The most
common area for leaks is where different parts join together. You may not need an expensive repair
if the leak stems from one of these easily replaceable areas. If the leak continues after
replacement, you may have a more extensive leak.

Examine your headlights if they appear dim; they may simply need a good clean. Sometimes the
road's greasy residue can get on a light and reduce the output of light. You will be able to see
well when using a reliable glass cleaner.

Try to find out whats wrong with your vehicle before calling a mechanic. You can save a ton of
cash via diagnosing the issue yourself, and you could prevent fraud. It's an unfortunate fact that
there are dishonest mechanics who will tell you your car has issues when it doesn't.

Take your vehicle to a full service car wash a couple times a year for an extensive cleaning,
inside and out. This removes most of the soil and helps preserve the interior of your car. This
can pay off when you want to sell or trade your car in for a newer one.

You can easily fix scratches yourself. You will need to fill the scratch with a primer that
corresponds to the colors of your car, apply some paint once the primer is dry and sand the entire
area. Start with a fine sand paper and increase the grain progressively before waxing.

It is time to get focused on auto repair so that you know what to do when the time arrives. You
want to be able to make the right decision, whether you are taking your vehicle to a shop or
trying to fix it yourself. Remember all the advice that has been given to you.

High Tech Autos Need High-Tech Repair Shops

Copyright (c) 2013 Eli Gali

Some may say that all of the newer model cars of any make could be considered high-tech. They all
require computer diagnostics for serious problems. However, you will find many more 'weekend
mechanics' working on their American made autos than foreign jobs. Kids grew up watching their
fathers do their own oil changes, replace sparkplugs and maybe work on the carburetor on the
family car. No father worked on a foreign car unless he was a professional. One wrong move and not
only could the auto be damaged further, it could negate any remaining warranty.

There should be no short cuts taken on BMW automotive repair. These are very well made ultimate
driving machines and to repair one takes a qualified mechanic who has had and lived the education
of working on all the series, not just one or two models. A Beemer owner can find quality repairs
at affordable rates. It should not take a second mortgage just to have your BMW oil change.

Owners may find cheap rates at cheap repair shops that advertise they work on foreign and
domestic cars. And the same owner may find reasonable rates at shops that are set up to work on
foreign models only. Compare it to going to a doctor. There are many fine physicians out there.
You suspect you are having appendicitis. But you need to go and find out for sure. Would you pick
a dermatologist or an internal medicine physician? They have both attended medical school and are
both licensed physicians. Common sense dictates that you pick the one that has a specialty in your
predicament.

You may visit the internist and after examination be told that it was just the Mexican food you
had eaten. Nothing is wrong with your appendix. That is good news from the expert. When you take
your BMW to a BMW repair shop with apprehension and worry that something is very seriously wrong
with your car and you are informed that it is something very simple, you know you can trust what
you have been told. It is a huge relief!

We are not picking on any one shop or mechanic here, but everyone knows that when a woman takes
her car in for something basic like a BMW oil change, some of the fast-and-cheap chains will try
and take advantage with the old trick of you also need this and you also need that. A reliable car
repair shop will not stoop to these practices. If a belt or any other item is worn and about to
break the mechanic will show the part to the male or female customer so they can see the wear
themselves. There are no bait and switch tactics for either of the sexes.

Once a Beemer owner finds the right shop that begins to know the car and all its little nuances,
that mechanic becomes like a best friend. He will always let you know when it is time for your BMW
oil change or any mileage milestone check-up. He can keep your expensive and much-loved auto
running smoothly without so much as a hint of a problem. His phone number should have a place of
prominence in your little black (or pink) book.

Cleaning Car Upholstery

These days people use their cars as floating living rooms and dining rooms as they drive around.
This means that all kinds of things can get spilled on a car's upholstery. When this happens,
you've probably wondered how to clean car upholstery. Once you know how to clean car upholstery,
you'll enjoy your travels more.

Here are ideas on dealing with some of the most common problems. Using these simple tips will show
you how to clean car upholstery to your satisfaction. Note that these techniques are for use on
cloth upholstery. Other methods are needed for leather.

Removing common stains

All that eating and drinking in the car can result in stains from liquids. The first step is to
blot the spill and absorb all excess liquid. Then apply an upholstery cleaner available from your
local auto parts store. Spray a small amount of cleaner on your car upholstery and wait a few
minutes. Scrub the stain a little with an old tooth brush. Then dry the soiled area with a clean
cloth. Repeat until you no longer see the stain and the cloth you are using to dry the area shows
no discoloration. If the stain is small, shaving cream may do the trick instead of commercial
cleaner.

If ink stains your car seat, do not rub the stain as this can smear the ink and make the stain
larger. Start by carefully blotting the area to remove any excess ink. Spray a small amount of
hairspray on the stain and let it sit a few minutes. Take clean dry towels and wipe the area.
Repeat as needed but use the minimum amount of cleaner necessary. Change your wiping cloths
frequently to prevent soiling the material from cross contamination. Rubbing alcohol can also be
used to clean ink on car upholstery. Dip a cotton swab into the alcohol and apply it only on the
actual ink stained area. Then wipe with a clean cloth as above.
To remove lipstick stains from your car's upholstery, try rubbing gently with a white, non-gel
toothpaste. Then wipe clean with a damp cloth.

If there is a battery acid stain, rub a paste of baking soda and water into the spot right away.
Leave this on for two hours and then wipe it off with a damp cloth. Repeat if any stain remains.
Any remaining residue can be cleaned with a commercial upholstery cleaner. As an alternative, you
can make your own cleaner by mixing 1/2 teaspoon liquid dishwashing detergent in a quart of warm
water. Beat this with a mixer and clean the upholstery using only the suds. Work on a small area
at a time, overlapping areas to avoid spotting. Change the rinse water frequently to keep it
clean. Let dry thoroughly.

To remove a gasoline stain from your car's interior, treat the stain with a mixture of one
teaspoon each of vinegar and mild dish detergent in a quart of warm water. The vinegar will remove
the odor while the detergent does the cleaning. Let the area dry. If any spotting remains, you may
need to repeat the process. If this does not seem to be working, try using dry cleaning solvent.

If you have children, they may play with crayons in the car and may get some on the upholstery. To
remove crayon marks, first scrape the excess crayon off with a dull-edge knife or metal spoon.
Spray with WD-40 and let stand a few minutes. Using a small, stiff bristled brush, work on the
crayon stain and then wipe the area with paper towels. Respray with WD-40 and apply liquid
dishwashing detergent on the sprayed area. Work this material in with the brush and then wipe the
stain away with a damp sponge. If any stain remains, repeat the procedure.

To remove mold, mildew and their odor from upholstered auto seats, products with peroxide and
detergents will restore the car interior. This both removes the stain and deactivates the odor.
Simply spray a citrus cleaner product on the soiled area. Wait about five minutes for it to
penetrate. Using a clean white absorbent cloth, blot the area, pressing down firmly without
rubbing for 30 seconds. Repeat this blotting process until the area is dry. If the stain or odor
persists, repeat the process. As an alternative, you could create a cleaning mixture by combining
1/4 teaspoon of color safe bleach and 1/4 cup of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide. With a clean cloth,
gently rub the stain until it is gone. Rinse the area with clear, warm water and dry thoroughly.

Clean upholstery helps your car keep its value

By keeping your car upholstery clean not only will it look better, it will also last longer. Nice
looking upholstery maintains the value of your car. If your upholstery is stained or damaged
beyond cleaning, replacement seat covers are available for most cars and trucks. People who know
how to clean car upholstery won't have to go to the expense of buying those replacements since
their cars' interiors will look like they just came from the showroom.

How To Junk A Car

In most cases in the modern world, there are two basic ways to get something done. You can either
do it yourself, or you can pay somebody to do it for you. Believe it or not, there is actually a
third option, when it comes to getting rid of a junk car, and that is … get paid to have
somebody do it for you!

When it comes to junking your car, the two basic approaches still apply, when you consider you
can either junk the car yourself, or you can have somebody do it for you. The best part about
having somebody do it for you is … you then have the option of having them do the work and
getting paid to let them do the work.

How to Junk a Car Yourself

Option 1: Take the Car to the Junkyard Yourself

You always have the option of breaking down the vehicle and preparing the vehicle for junkyard
delivery yourself. There is a good amount of work involved:

1. Make sure all the fluids (including oil, coolant, gas, etc.) are thoroughly drained from the
car.

2. Remove the spare tire from the vehicle. You will have to find a different way of disposing of
the spare tire, as most junkyards only take the 4 tires on the car.

3. Make sure you have the car title with you. Oftentimes, junkyards are sticklers for the title.
Sometimes, the title can be hard to find, if the car is old.

4. Tow the car to the junkyard and deliver it. You will then be paid for the car.

Option 2: Sell Off the Parts

You also have the option to dismantle the automobile yourself and sell off the parts one by one.

1. The most effective way is to list the used car parts on eBay or local auction/used goods sales
websites.

2.Sell the catalytic converter to the junkyard.

3. Sell the tires too, if they are still usable.

How to Junk a Car, Do No Work, and Get Paid

Prepping the car and then delivering it to the junkyard yourself is too hard and time consuming.
Dismantling the car and selling off the parts is even more time consuming and more difficult to
do. The best option for junking a caris to use a service that will come and tow the car away for
you and pay you for their trouble.

This is clearly the best option, because not only are you able to rid yourself of the eyesore of
a vehicle (that has most likely been sitting on your front lawn), but you also barely have to lift
a finger. You literally only have to lift your finger twice in the entire process. The first time
is, when you dial the phone number of the junk car service. The second time is, when you lift all
your fingers and your hand to receive the payment for your junk car.

It's an easy three step process to junk a car. First, call the junk car service to schedule the
pick-up. Second, have the junk car removed by the service. Lastly, get paid cash money for their
inconvenience!
